Some changes.....

Mr. P is an Indian Ringneck. He looks like this:



If he's a male he's supposed to look like this:



For the last week or so he's looked pretty ratty. His feathers are constantly ruffled and out of place and he's just generally a mess. I said there was either something wrong with him or he's molting. Then today I looked at him and saw this:



It's not easy to see because he wouldn't come close and kept moving around but there is definitely a ring forming around his neck. I've read that the ring shows up around 18 months of age and takes 2 molts to come in fully. He is almost exactly 18 months old and the I'm willing to bet this is his first full molt. It's very cool. The females aren't as colorful, their ring is much less dramatic. I'm very excited since prior to getting the ring there is no way to determine sex outside a DNA test. Those are not very accurate, though I don't know why, and almost as expensive as a Pleasanton motorcycle accident attorney that is if you're on the losing end :)

So that's the latest in pet news. Now that I have more time hopefully I will update here more....
