Today Axl & Lola turn 6. Mom doesn't know that today is their real birthday, but she chose this day so it's easy to remember. This is a picture of Axl & Lola when Mom & Dad first got them. This was long before I was born. Mom says they were a mess. Axl was really, really skinny and his hip bones stuck out. Lola had lots of wrinkly skin, was getting over mange, and had a problem with her eye. Dad gave them 3 baths before they were clean. Yuck. But they were cuties. Axl had really bad separation anxiety and would cry like a baby when Mom & Dad would leave. He's not like that anymore because Mom & Dad always come back. His previous foster told Mom that a lot of times he wouldn't come home at night and the neighbor would put these two in a kennel together for the night. How sad. Axl is a scaredy dog, leaving him in a kennel is not a good thing. Plus the kennel was big, but not for both of them to sleep comfortably. So he has bad separation anxiety. But once he learned that Mom & Dad always come back he got over it. He doesn't get excited when they leave anymore. He still has his fear aggression and Lola still has a really high prey drive, but Mom & Dad love them. And I do too. They are really good brother and sister. They are always good to me and I love being around them. So Happy Birthday to the bestest brother and sister around. Hope Mom gets some twinkies to celebrate.
