For years I've wanted a particular dog. I wanted a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog because I fell in love with the breed years ago. I loved their look, their temperament, their characteristics, just everything about them. But I knew that as long as I lived here in Hawaii chances were slim I would get one. I have also wanted a dog that was smart, obedient, well trained, easy to handle, able to go anywhere, and could just be my companion. All the dogs I've ever owned have not been this either because of temperament, lack of training, or health problems. In the beginning Mana was that for me. She went everywhere with me and was completely awesome. Then we started getting other dogs and she stayed home more and I changed jobs and got busier. She was a completely awesome dog right up until the end.
Now I have a Swissy who is smart, easy to handle, easy to train, and anxious to go anywhere with me. I know this is the dog I've always wanted. This is the dog that I will be able to take with me wherever I go. This is the dog that will be my calm, almost constant companion for the next 15 years or so. The thing is, am I up to the task? Having the dog I have always wanted is going to take work. It will be worth it but it will take work. What's that saying, be careful what you wish for......
