First, Monty seems to be adjusting to his new home. He did nip one of the kids and I hope it was an isolated incident. I hope it doesn't become a problem. I think this is what's best for him and I honestly don't want him back. So lets hope for the best with Monty. Actually, now that I think about it, Monty bit me once too. I think he's a very calm bird and anything sudden at all can be scary to him. At least I hope so.
Next week is Big Cat Week on NatGeo!!! I'm thinking this is kind of like shark week. Monday starts with a special by two guys who have been filming and documenting the big cats for 30 years!! 30 years!! They have followed lions, leopards, and the other big cats. That sounds amazing....
Tuesday gives us the Leopard Queen. A filmmaker follows a female leopard for 17 years. Wow... I got to see a leopard in Africa and they are amazing creatures. The one we saw had 2 cubs. It had killed a gazelle, then dragged it and the cubs up into a tree to feast. Absolutely amazing!!!
Wednesday gives us Lion Warriors. This should be really interesting. In the Masai Mara the Masai warriors live by raising cattle. Since they don't have ranches and fences like we do, lions attack the cattle. As a result a Masai becomes a man by killing a lion. Well, they have to come up with a way to balance the needs of the Masai and the lions....This should really be awesome. I got to meet some Masai when I was in Africa and it's interesting. They are usually very tall and very thin. That group has no need for juvederm. Anyway, that one is definitely one I'm watching.
Finally on Thursday there is a story on the drought in Tanzania.... This has the potential to be devastating to Africa....
Anyway, here's a cute video to get you in the big cat mood:
