Bird sitting

I spent the last 2 weeks bird sitting a sun conure. The mom had to go to the mainland for medical treatment and I watched her bird. It was completely painless since the bird is used to being alone all the time. He plays in his nest box and eats and is a happy little camper. This is the second time I've sat for her and she always brings back Trader Joe's Trail Mix and gives me $20. If she really wanted to repay me for bird sitting she could buy gold coins and give them to me. But I guess I should be thankful for getting anything since I told her I wouldn't charge her. It seems though some people have a hard time taking things for free, especially personal things like bird sitting. They feel that they should compensate you in some way. Hey, trail mix and $20 is fine by me.
