My worst fear

was realized last night. And we all got through it okay. We've been working with Axl for about a month now because he loses his mind when he sees another dog on a leash. He's fine in the dog park if everyone is lose, but if you are holding him or someone is holding another dog he goes nuts. This makes walking him very difficult, well that and the fact that he just about pulls your arm off when he walks. So we hired a trainer and have been working with him. He's come a long way and I think will be fine in time, the more exposure to these things the more he'll get used to it. Anyway, we have been taken them to the local school and walking them on the fields and grassy areas. Last night we decided to take them to the school and then walk on the street. We walked about 1/4 mile and turned around and headed back to the school. Things were going really, really well when we approached a corner and around it comes a guy with a pit bull on a leash. Yikes!!! Axl got a little crazy but really not bad at all, and we all just kept moving and he got over it really quickly. In the past he would have kept looking back and wanting to go that way, but not last night. Once the dog was past us it was gone for him and we just kept walking. That was one of my worst fears, accidentally running into another dog. Well, it happened and we all survived and I'm very happy with the big boy.

I use a Gentle Leader on Axl and I want to get one for Lola. She walks pretty good but has a tendency to pull and I know this would break her of that quickly. And if she doesn't pull Axl doesn't pull, they feed off each others energy. Anyway, I was in the mall today getting some books at the bookstore (it's Educator's Week at Borders - woo hoo!!!) and went into the pet store to see if they carried them. They do. They are $50!! Huh?!?!?!? I paid $18 at the Pet Expo for Axl's. I'm not paying $50. That's just crazy. I'm going to see if I can find it online cheaper. They even stock them right up front, you know, next to the POS systems as if someone would buy that spur of the moment. I think not!!!

So that's it, my worst fear happened and we all lived through it. I'm excited.
