Limping dogs

Bella has been limping a lot lately. We can't figure out why and just as I decide she needs to go to the vet, she stops. It's very frustrating. The the other day I think I figured it out. She is a big dog, tall and weighty. I think getting down off our bed hurts and I think going down the stairs bother her. It's her front leg that she limps on and I think the pressure from moving that giant body down is causing her pain. I should clarify that even if she is limping really severely, if someone wants to play she can run and play with no limp at all. Which leads me to believe that in the overall scheme of things, it's not that bad. If it was really bad she would use it as little as possible. Anyway, I've been wracking my brain trying to think of something we could do to make the stairs not so bad for her. The bed is okay, she's only one it at night and there is a box for her to climb on and off the bed. But the back stairs have about 10 stairs going down and I can tell she does not like to go down them. The front only has 3 steps but the lot slopes to the back.

When my Mom was in the senior housing, they had one of those stair lifts where you sit in a chair and it takes you up the stairs. I wish they had something like that for dogs. I know Bella would like it if she didn't have to go up and down those stairs. Maybe I can order one and alter it for Bella. Of course, she's so big she couldn't sit it in. She barely fits in Daddy's recliner.
