My neighbor. He has a male pit bull, around 120 lbs, intact. That by itself is bad enough, and don't get me wrong Nick is a sweetheart, but keeping a male dog of any breed intact for no reason is just plain stupid. Nick and his partner, Chloe, are indoor/outdoor dogs. They stay in the yard during the day and are in the house at night. They are treated pretty good except that they don't get walked or taken out much. I haven't seen them leave their property there in about 3 months. On Friday their grandson was over. Everyone was sitting in the carport, which the dogs can't get to, and having a good time. The owner decided to go in the yard and take the grandson with him. Now the grandson is 2 and not used to dogs, just like Nick isn't used to kids. But the owner takes the kid in there and doesn't think anything of it. Now luckily nothing happened, but that is how tragedies occur. Nick doesn't know kids, the kids doesn't know Nick. The kid could have done something Nick didn't like and Nick could have snapped and hurt the kid. It's people like that, that make me just shake my head and wonder how the human race manages to survive.
Idiot #2:
People who crop their pit bull's ears. Really?!?!?! The only reason to do that is for fighting or to pretend you are tough. It has nothing to do with the dog or the looks. It has everything to do with how you are perceived. Your pit bull's ear are cropped and wooooo, you own a tough dog. Wow, that makes you really cool. No, that makes you an idiot. Having a needless procedure done on your animal for your own pleasure. Stupid and selfish. You shouldn't own a pet and you definitely shouldn't be allowed to reproduce. But, people like that will. A. Lot.
Idiot #3:
People who adopt dogs, or any animal for that matter, knowing they don't have the means to take care of them. I just came across this ad on Craigslist:
This is a great dog for a family. I just cant keep her anymore. I have keep her at my shop and she needs a yard. I will need to verify your willingness to give her a good home. She is not and will not go to any fighting dog homes. I got her at the pound so she has all her shots and will not be giving any puppies. Like I said she is a lover very smart well behaved and loves to run. She is very fast. If you truly want a great dog for yourself or family you wont go wrong with Puders Call me at XXX-XXXX.
Notice the red. The person states they got her at the pound but have to keep her at their shop. Ummm, why on earth did you adopt a dog if you had no house or yard to keep it in??? Why, oh why??
Why do these people continue to do the amazingly stupid things they do? Why are these people allowed to reproduce and further dilute the gene pool? Why, oh why, do these things happen???
