It's been a brutal couple of weeks, especially this week. Rocco never really recovered from the last bout he had. He has a lot of trouble walking now. He frequently falls when walking and his walk is all sideways and lopsided. He frequently ends up with he foot curled under as he's trying to walk. He has real trouble getting up. It's sad. But Rocco's attitude is great. He still has lots of life left in him. He tries to run up the driveway barking at the kids. One of his favorite things is to walk around our substantial backyard and sniff and check things out. He still finds joy in things so I think he'll be around for awhile more. In fact, lately he finds more joy in things so that's good.
Nala on the other hand is a tough story. She hasn't had any seizures since early December but she hardly moves. The leg that she doesn't use is slightly swollen and she really doesn't find joy in anything. I don't know what to do about her. I don't want to drag out her life if there's nothing left in her but, by the same token, I don't want to just randomly put her down. I don't know. I hate this part. In the past 7 years I've had to put 2 dogs down. With both of them I worried that I would know when the time was and both times I knew without a doubt when it was time. Everyone tells me I'll know when it's time and I'm sure I will, but it still causes me grief.
So that's it for now. I will be updating more regularly, it just seems like the last couple of weeks time just flew out the window.
