Ricci

Well, we have had Ricci now for 5 days. In that time he has gone from a little baby in a box to perching, flying, starting to explore his environment, wanting to interact with us and the other birds, and generally being a cutie. It's amazing how quickly they grow and develop. We got him on Thursday. Friday he tried to perch and was having a hard time of it. By Saturday he was a perching king. Then he couldn't turn around on his perch or lift one foot off like birdies do. Now he sleeps with his one foot tucked up. He frequently stands there and plays with one foot and he's getting the turning around thing. Very, very cool. Today he let me get close with the camera and take some pictures:

That last shot was taken just before he flew at me. He learned to fly very quickly and he learned to get lift even quicker. On Sunday he started making attempts at flying and by last night he was getting lift. That was it. Out came the scissors and his wings got trimmed. Not a lot, I do want him to be able to fly a little. Scary how quickly they progress.

Oh right, the left side of his face and body is wet. We just got done with a feeding and he makes a god awful mess. I have to practically give him a shower everytime he's done.
