Update time again

Well, as usual, it's been a little bit since I posted here. It's not that I have nothing to say, it's that I'm dealing with the health of the dogs daily. I think about them all the time and the last thing I want to do is then sit down and write about it. But that leads to a blog that isn't updated very often and that's not good. So here goes.

Nala. After her initial seizure on Sept. 7th, she went 8 days without another seizure. On Monday, Sept 15th, she had another one which was followed closely by one on Sept 16th. A call to the vet ended up in a prescription for phenobarbital. She takes 60 mg twice a day to stop the seizures. More then one seizure a month is considered a lot. She had 3 in 9 days. Since the 16th she has not had another seizure. Either the phenobarbital is working or the seizures have stopped for now. Who knows. What I do know is I perfer that she not have seizures. The phenobarbitol is making her a little lethargic though. But it also appears to be making her hungry and since she hasn't had an appetite, that's a good thing. Mostly Nala looks okay but every once in a while I will see a look in her eyes that makes me think we are nearing the end. I hate to think about that and logically I know it's not that far off, but sometimes the look in her eyes makes me think it's closer than I want to admit.

Rocco, on the other hand, is hanging tough. We had to up his dose of steriods around the same time Nala started having her seizures, but the new dosage seems to be working for him. He is a happy boy and his struggles to move around don't really seem to be bothering him that much. His pooping in the house has been reduced too, not sure why. So he's hanging in there and I think he'll be fine as long as we can keep him moving.

The birds are all doing great. Sammy is an absolute joy. He is the greatest bird ever. He plays in his cage for hours at a time without making any noise. He can get very loud, but only in short bursts. He's starting to trust me more and I'm just taking it slow with him letting him decide the pace. It's great.

Mr. Peanut has started talking. Yea!!! He's approximately 7 months old and says, Hi Mr. P, and Hello. That's awesome. He's going to be a great talker. Hubby and I repeat things to him all the time now so he'll pick up more stuff. I think he will be a fantastic talker though. Woo Hoo!!! That was one of the reasons I wanted a ringneck, their good talking abilities.

So there you now all caught up. Now some pictures:

Did someone order a bird in a box??

I love how he makes a hole in the box then sticks his head out to play with a toy hanging on his cage. He is too cute.
