That video

I just have to say something about "that video." I'm not going to post it here, I'm sure by now most have seen it or heard about it. You know the one where the marine is seen throwing a puppy.

I heard about this video and saw parts of it, on Monday night. It was found on YouTube. My first reaction was - wait!! I know how easily videos can be doctored and things made to look the way they aren't. Also, it seems like an odd, very odd, thing for someone to allow to be filmed. I'm not an idiot, I know that some people abuse animals. But I also know that abusers realize this is wrong and generally won't allow someone to film them abusing an animal. I could buy it more if this guy filmed himself. Allowing another person to film it just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.

Also, it's impossible to prove that it's undoctored and until I get absolute proof that it's real I'm not quite buying into it. That anyone would allow themselves to be taped even if this is a joke, is unbelievable but more plausible than someone actually doing it.

I don't know exactly what to think about this. As a scientist I tend to try not to jump to conclusions without all the facts, so I wish the Marines involved would speak up and stop this wondering. On the other hand, even if it is a joke these Marines should be disciplined as they have tarnished the reputation of all Marines.
