Daddy's Gone
Cesar Milan's right hand man is gone. He passed away yesterday. Anyone who knows and loves pits has a special place in their hearts for Daddy. When I got my Nala I was bound and determined to make her the best pit I could. I wanted to show people that pits were not vicious dogs and that they could be loving and wonderful pets. Then, a few years back when Cesar appeared and I saw his assistant was a pit I cheered. What a great ambassador of the breed. What a great way to show how awesome pits can be. I've seen shows where Cesar was helping some of the 'friendlier' breeds and Daddy was the calmest one in the group.
Pits really are a special kind of dog. They will do anything to please you, anything. Which is part of the problem and why they make such good fighters. If that's what you want that's what they will do. I always say you have never been loved until you've been loved by a pit bull. Their love and devotion is all consuming and all they want out of life is a little love from you.
Daddy was 16 years old when he crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. I'm sure the Milan's did everything they could for him. I know when Nala was nearing the end I would have done anything for her. I would have gotten her cholesterol treatment if it would have done any good.
My heart goes out to the Milan family. I know how hard it is to lose someone as special as Daddy. I know because I lost Nala.
