A couple of cool things coming up....

Secrets of the Mangroves

As you may know I'm a huge fan of Nat Geo. I love that channel. I watch almost everything on it. But I really, really love their animal shows. They have some of the best around. They have some wicked cool programs coming up. First up is Secrets of the Mangroves tomorrow night. My degree is in Marine Biology and the mangroves are an amazing place. The diversity of life that lives in mangrove swamps is truly amazing. It's like the nursery of the ocean. But we in Hawaii have a different view of mangroves. We view them as invasive and a pest. They clog our streams and fish ponds and generally create a nuisance. So, with that view in mind I'm very anxious to see this special, it should be incredibly interesting.

Rescue Ink
Next is something I'm really excited about. It's a new series on Nat Geo called Rescue Ink. I don't know all the details but it's a group of hard core, ex-con type guys who have made it their work to rescue animals in and around New York City. I can't wait for this one. I'm really curious to find out these guys whole story.

Here's a little sample:

I had to watch all the clips, I really can't wait for this show.

Axl Update

In Axl news, tonight the trainer brought over another dog for us to work with Axl. He goes crazy if he sees another dog. So the trainer brought a dog and we walked them past each other over and over and over and over. It was crazy. Axl did lose his mind in the beginning and at one point got so worked up he bite my arm. I know he wasn't really biting me he was just so crazed that he didn't know what to do with the anxiety he felt. So a chomp on the arm is how he chose to deal with it. It's all good. I didn't react to it at all because I didn't want him to associate that with me doing anything. I want it to not become a habit so I just ignored it. That was hard with blood pouring down my arm. As it turns out it's not a bite really but more like a deep scratch. I'll be fine and so will Axl eventually. The good part of this ordeal was that after a few minutes he got over it and by the end we were walking next to the other dog, almost side by side, and Axl couldn't care less. It was good.

So overall things are getting better with Axl.  Now if I could just get these two to stop eating the  patio furniture covers.....
