I've been battling this bill all over the place. If you don't know about it and you own any animal more exotic then a cat you better go here and read it. Basically it's to ban all non-native species. Cats, dogs, and most farm animals are exempt, everything else is fair game. I'm against it on a number of levels but the primary one is it is so vague and broad. It doesn't define anything. It doesn't spell anything out. And it condones bad science. They want people to prove a negative. If you know anything at all about science you can not prove a negative. One of the worst parts is that if you own one of the banned animals you can not breed, sell, give away, or transport across state lines. When we move to Colorado one of the things we planned on doing was getting a big motor home and spend the summer traveling to all the rv parks!! This bill would prevent that from every happening. Oh sorry, the really important point is that if you own a banned pet and something happens to you the pet will be killed. Nice huh??? This bill is insane. Anyway, the bird folks have banded together here on Oahu and we are battling it. If you haven't heard about it you really should check it out. It's scary, scary stuff our government is trying to force down our throats.
