A new flock member???

This afternoon we are taking a trip to the North Shore of Oahu to look at one of these:

This is mustached parakeet. They are related to the Ringnecks so are cousins of Mr. P, Ricky, and Tweety. I'm very excited about this. I've wanted one for awhile but because they are kind of rare here people ask a ton of money. The one we are going to look at is named Sherlock.  Cute, huh???  I don't know, if we get many more animals we may have to get them jobs to help pay their upkeep.I've actually found that birds like this one and the ringnecks are cheaper because they eat fresh food.  I go shopping every weekend and buy them a bunch of fruits and veggies and it really doesn't cost that much.  I also feed them some seeds and pellets but they really prefer the fresh food.  The ringnecks will try anything I am eating and they say mustached parakeets are better eaters.  That's great because, just like in humans, variety in diet is important to get all the necessary nutrients.    Anyway, if we get Sherlock I'll be sure and post pictures.
