In all the years I've had dogs I have never had to deal with mange. I guess I should have realized my luck would run out. When we got the foster dogs Lola had mange. She was in the final stages of treatment for it. I had to take her to the vet once for the final dip. Since then she's been fine and looks great!! Well, Axl has always had a little bald spot on his back between his shoulder blades. It wasn't very big and didn't seem to change in the weeks we had him. I just figured it was a bald spot. A week ago I took Lola to the vet for her eyelid and the vet commented about Axl's bald spots. I told her the story and she agreed it might not be mange if it hasn't changed in all these weeks. Well, we spoke too soon. I thought his bald spot looked like it was getting a littler bigger on Wednesday but I wasn't positive. Today it's noticeably bigger and there is a new spot starting on his mid-back. The hair is leaving his back faster then deals sell out on Cyber Monday. I just got off the phone with the vet and there is a topical flea treatment that treats mange too. We are going to try that first and see if it helps. I didn't know anything about demodectic mange until I got these guys now I know more then I ever wanted to. Ahhh, well.... live and learn.
