The Crew

Axl & Lola Brother and sister pitbull/sharpei mixes. Just about 1 year old and very, very high energy. Axl has some fear issues that we are trying to work through and Lola is way too smart.

Mr. P, Ricci, and Tweety - Ringneck parakeets. All three talk up a storm, I'm just waiting for them to start talking to each other.

Sherlock - A mustached parakeet. He's about 8 months old and we are unsure he's a he. I guess we'll find out.

The Rest of the Crew

Chubs and Kiko - a pair of cockatiels that have yet to produce viable eggs.

Monty a blue capped Pionus that we are watching for a family.

The Parakeets - three indistinguishable white ones we collective refer to as "the angels"

Agility

The fosters are doing well. Rocco is not adjusting to them so well, he snaps at them and growls a lot, but I think that is because he is just a grouchy old man. Also, the fosters are very high energy, at least Axl is. Lola is more calm, but Axl is just a ball of energy. I have decided to do some training with them so that their forever family doesn't have too hard a time with them. Because of Axl's energy levels I'm thinking of doing some very basic agility training with him. I don't have time to join the agility club or anything like that, hopefully he'll find a home and won't be here all that long, but I did some with Nala and I think I could do some basic stuff. We, of course, need to start on sit and stay. The boy can jump and that's what I want to channel. I think if I hung food from some discount chandeliers he would try to jump up to it. So I want to channel his energy and I think agility might be the ticket. Walks are not enough for this boy. Walks just get him amped up. I will probably have to take him to the dog park every couple of days to blow off some energy. Lucky we have a really big yard for him to race around in.

Okay, I have to get ready and go to the Pet Expo again today.

I think it sounds like a great idea to work with the energetic foster on some basic agility skills. Sure can't help but increase the chances of finding a new home quickly!
