This is a red-whiskered bulbul:
This is the nest of a red-whiskered bulbul:
It is located on a small tree right outside my living room window, right next to the Budgies bird house. I noticed the nest being built about a week ago. I wasn't sure who was using it but I saw it slowly taking shape. This afternoon I was sitting on the couch and I looked up and saw this:

Ha!!! Someone was in the nest. I have to be careful when trying to get pictures. Any movement in the window scares them away. So I carefully moved around and got this:

Kind of hard to see but if you look out the window you can see the head sticking out of the nest. Then I walked around to the Budgie house and was able to get this picture:

There the head is pretty clear. I took the picture of the nest after I scared it away. There are no eggs in the nest yet but I bet there will be. I've seen a pair of these Bulbuls hanging around the bushes out front since January. I guess they were scooping out the neighborhood and decided they would move it.
The red-whiskered Bulbuls lay clutches of 2-4 eggs. The eggs are generally rose colored and speckled. They incubate for about 12 days. The Bulbul watch has begun. I'll be watching them closely and trying to get photos. Hopefully when they are out of the nest I'll be able to get pictures of the eggs and then the babies. Day 1 down.
