First off, my last post actually resulted in an email from National Geographical Channel!! How cool is that. Apparently these blogs posts we write really do reach the powers that be. Great to know.
Anyway, I'm watching The Dog Whisperer which I have not watched in a very, very long time. I know a lot of people don't necessarily agree with his methods, but I really believe he has a lot of it right. What I get from him is two things. First, most animal problems are a result of the humans involved. I absolutely believe that is true and I've said it for years. If a dog is a problem, look to the owner. So I do believe that's the case in most instances.
Second, is the energy you present. Our dogs have always been calm, fairly easy to control (unless Rocco hears fireworks). When we lived in our other house the front yard wasn't fenced in. We could take our dogs into the front yard without leashes and they didn't run away. They did not even go past a certain point because they knew we didn't want them to. In most instances we had a set idea of how our dogs will behave in certain instances and they tend to behave just that way. It's all in the energy you give off. I always set myself up as the leader, if you will, and the dogs have always accepted that.
Well, this is what happens when I'm unemployed and get to watch more TV then I normally will. Another good show on the National Geographic Channel. Very cool.

I agree with you about the Dog Whisperer...he does have a lot of it right. I always enjoy your blog posts! :)
Nice blog. Me and my gf, we love dogs. Lately she told me that she wants to buy a Yorkie. But oh my, the price is too high!
Congratulations! I love the Dog Whisperer and think he has a real handle on dog behavior and fixing what man has done to our best friends.
I love The Dog Whisperer, too. His methods make a lot of sense, as does his whole motto that there are no bad dogs, just bad people.
Unfortunately, I haven't been that successful at implementing his methods. I'll admit that my dogs have me trained more than the other way around and that I spoil them a little too much. If I can ever stop doing that, I'm sure they'd respond just like CM's dogs.
I have tried the whole "shush" thing with my sister's dachshunds and it works with them, at least for 5 minutes anyway.
An email from National Geographic--very cool.
Don't know how I missed this one last week. He looks just like our Umbrells Cockatoo. Ours is horribly spoiled and gets way too much attention. :-)
