The Crew

Axl & Lola Brother and sister pitbull/sharpei mixes. Just about 1 year old and very, very high energy. Axl has some fear issues that we are trying to work through and Lola is way too smart.

Mr. P, Ricci, and Tweety - Ringneck parakeets. All three talk up a storm, I'm just waiting for them to start talking to each other.

Sherlock - A mustached parakeet. He's about 8 months old and we are unsure he's a he. I guess we'll find out.

The Rest of the Crew

Chubs and Kiko - a pair of cockatiels that have yet to produce viable eggs.

Monty a blue capped Pionus that we are watching for a family.

The Parakeets - three indistinguishable white ones we collective refer to as "the angels"

Rocco hit a rough patch

Friday when I got home from work Rocco could hardly walk. I don't know what happened or if something happened, though I'm thinking it did, but he was in a bad way. Yesterday wasn't good and I ended up giving him a whole prednisone, he normally takes 3/4. I put a call into the vet and she said to up the dosage to 1/2 a pill everyday for a week. After that we go back to 3/4 of a pill every other day. Today he was much better. I hate when those things happen because I know at some point nothing is going to work. At some point he won't be able to walk anymore. Every time it happens I get scared that this is the time it all ends.

Nala seems to be doing well. She is not reacting too badly to the up in medication. I was afraid it would make her really lethargic, but it didn't. She's doing pretty well. I'm kind of dreading tomorrow night. For the last 2 Mondays she's had seizures. I'm afraid of what tomorrow night will bring. Here's another one, I know at some point it's all going to stop working and we'll have to put her down. I don't want that day to come, but I know it will eventually.

It's so hard when they get old and their poor bodies start to go downhill. I'm sorry you are going through this now. :(
